1 I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

 

(In Reference) I say then, Has God left behind his people? God refuse.(no) For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

 

Key Pointer- Israel/ Israelite= typically refers to Gods people; or people who walk in him; or believer of God.

 

2 God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel saying,

 

(In Reference) God has not threw away his people which he knew of beforehand. Know you not what the scripture says of Elias? How he made entreaty to God against Gods' people saying,

 

3 Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.

(In other words) Paul is writing; and he's reciting words from an Old Testament prophet name Elias ( Elijah) when he stated " They have killed your prophets, and digged down your altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life. ( Brief story recap) The king during Elijah's time had married a woman name Jezebel. Jezebel didn't serve the same God as the nation and was able to turn the nation against the true living God. Well Elijah the prophet; refused to bow, and spoke against it, and he made his supplication to the lord about what was going on. (1 Kings 16:31- 1 kings 19)

 

4 But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.

 

(In Reference) But what says the answer of God to him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who has no bowed the knee to the image of Baal (an idol)

 

(In other words) The same response he had for Elijah is the same response he has now! What was God's response to Elijah, when he thought he was the only one? I have put aside to himself seven thousand men, who has not bowed their knees to no idol.

 

5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

 

(In Reference) Even so then, at this current time there is a remnant according to the poll of  underserved favor of God ( grace).

 

6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

7 What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded.

(In other words) Some of God's people didn’t do what God was searching for; but the selection did it, and the remaining were blinded.

 

8 (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.

 

(In Reference) (According as it is written, God has given them the spirit of sleep, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) to this day.

 

9 And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them:

 

(In Reference) And David says, let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a difficulty, and let it be compensation to them.

 

(In other words) Instead of a table of blessings, let them have a table of trouble, and a trap, and let that be their reward.

 

10 Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway.

 

(In Reference) Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back always.

 

11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.

 

(In Reference) I say then, have they tripped that they should fall? God refuse. But rather though their fall, deliverance is come to the nation, for to tempt them to being jealous.

 

12 Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?

13 For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:

14 If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them.

15 For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?

16 For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.

(In other word) if the first remnant is holy; then the increase will also be holy: - remind me of (Matthew 7:17- 18):

 

" 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

 

(See the Vision) Think of yourself as a plant. If the root is holy, then as it grow, the branches that began to spring off your plant will be holy.

 

17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert grafted in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;

 

(In Reference) And is some of the branches be broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, was joined in among them, and with them partaker of the root and fatness of the olive tree.

 

18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.

 

(In Reference) Talk not with excessive pride against the branches. But if you boast, you bear not the root, but the root you.

 

19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in.

 

(In Reference) You will say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be joined in.

 

20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:

 

(In Reference) Well, because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:

 

(In other words) Why were they cut off? Because of their unbelief.

Keep in mind: He's talking about Israel. Israel ( rather your reading it from the story point of view / or from a " Now" point of view) is God's people. Rather your in the church; or just a believer in general. Speaking to us!

 

And for those who wasn't broken off; your standing by faith, so don’t be prideful, but FEAR.

 

21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.

 

(In Reference) For if God showed not mercy for the natural branches, take caution unless he also show not mercy on you.

 

22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

 

(In Reference) Look therefore the goodness and severeness of God: on them which fell, severeness; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in his goodness: otherwise you also will be cut off.

 

23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be grafted in: for God is able to graft them in again.

 

(In Reference) And they also, if they continue NOT still in unbelief, will be joined in: for God is able to join them in again.

 

(In other words) To those who fell; if you continue no more in unbelief, then you will be joined in. For GOD IS ABLE to join them in again.

 

*Must believe whole-heartily; Walking in faith; Trusting God with no doubt, etc.

 

24 For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert grafted contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?

 

(In Reference) For if you was cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and was joined opposite to nature into a good olive tree: how much more will these, which by the natural branches, be joined into their own tree?

 

(In other words) If you was cut out of a wild by nature olive tree, and was joined in opposite of your nature to a good tree: how much more will these, which by natural branches, be joined into their OWN tree?

 

(See the Vision) God typically speaks in parable; or as we call it metaphors. Using a wild olive tree by nature being joined into a good olive tree. We are all come from a wild olive tree by natural causes, (Just who we are) but God joins us in to our own good olive tree.

 

25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

 

(In Reference) For I would not, sibling, that you should be lacking knowledge of this mystery, unless, (for fear that) you should be wise in your own knowledge; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the nation be come in.

 

26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

 

(In Reference) And so all Isreal will be saved: as it is written, There will come out of Zion the Deliverer, and will turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

 

27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

 

(In Reference) For this is my covenant to them, when I will take away their sins.

 

28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the father's sakes.

29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

 

(In Reference) For the gifts and calling of God was without regret.

 

(In other words) Who he's called and who has obtained the gifts, was no mistake.

 

30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:

 

(In Reference) For as you in past times have not believed God, yet have now obtained forgiveness through their unbelief:

 

31 Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.

 

(In Reference) Even so have these also now not believed, that through your forgiveness they also may obtain mercy.

 

32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.

 

(In Reference) For God finished them all in unbelief, that he might have forgiveness upon all.

 

33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

 

(In Reference) O the deepness of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgements, and his ways past finding out!

 

34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?

 

(In Reference) For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his mentor?

 

35 Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?

 

(In Reference) Or who has given to him, and it will be paid back to him again?

 

(In other words) Who has given to God, to where he owe us anything?

 

36 For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

 

(In Reference) For in him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom by glory for ever. Amen

 

(In other words) Glory is for him, Glory is through him, Glory goes to him, For it is HIM; in all things: To him be Glory forever. Amen.
